A New Hue for Our GUVs

‘Aquamarine’ would be a polite way to describe the dubious shade of our latest GUV sample. It’s certainly an acquired taste. But what’s the significance of a toothpaste-coloured version compared to the flamingo-coloured one you’re already seen?

Well, it's not the colour. That’s a red herring. Rather it's the fact that this latest sample is what we call a ‘running sample’. Now being a van, it obviously doesn't run on its own; it needs a push or a pull from some motive power. In this case, 'running' refers to it being fitted with final-spec wheelsets and bearings to negotiate all manner of trackwork smoothly. Which it does with aplomb:

This means that we’re one step further along with the rapid evolution of these very posh parcels trucks. Look out for decorated samples in the next few weeks, and pre-order your GUVs here (though not, sadly, in aquamarine).
